I AM THAT GIRL

I Am That Girl roots from a book published by Alexis Jones in 2014. The book works to inspire “girls around the world figure out those questions in order to inspire them to think for themselves, to speak their truth, to discover their purpose, and to dream HUGE!” An organization was formed based on the book that follows those same ideals, which now includes 1.2M+ people online and chapters in 24+ countries.

The opportunity we are sharing is the one for you to start your own chapter! You can do this within your school: you follow the same rules that your school has for starting a new club; or, you can start it independently. No registration is required from the organization itself, so you can basically just decide to start one, tagging @IAMTHATGIRL if you make an Instagram. Monthly meet-ups with the organization are also available, but completely optional. You can learn more about what chapters typically follow here.

Chapters can focus on a variety of things depending on what your goals are, but generally focus on gender studies. For example, at LaGuardia High School their chapter focuses on fund-raising for reproductive rights organizations and education within their school community.

Hear from the chapter president herself at LaGuardia High School on our Instagram, or visit I AM THAT GIRL’s website!
